Ten of us came for the weekend and the house still felt spacious, which is exactly what we wanted. The courtyard pool is wonderful in the late afternoon, and the kitchen is so well equipped that we ended up having dinner all together at the big table both nights. We'll definitely be back.

We booked it for my mother's birthday and it was perfect. The house is large, full of light and spotless. We loved the lounge with the fireplace, which we lit at night even though it was spring. The owner could not have been more helpful: attentive without ever being intrusive.

A winter break with the family and a complete success. The heating works more than well and the afternoons by the fireplace with the children were priceless. It's also a stone's throw from Toledo and Puy du Fou, which was our Saturday plan and the kids loved it.

There were twelve of us and we wanted for nothing: plenty of space, comfortable beds and bathrooms for everyone. The pool was the centre of the trip given the heat. Best of all, how quiet the village is at night. You really do rest.

A place with real charm and beautifully kept. You can tell it has been renovated with taste, with fine materials and lovely details throughout the house. We liked the setting so much that we stayed an extra night.

Perfect for escaping the noise of Madrid while being just an hour away by car. We had a get-together with friends, a barbecue and a swim at the end of the day. The photos don't do it justice: it's even better in person.

Maqueda Castle is remarkable for how well preserved it is. The village itself has a wonderfully monumental feel, closely tied to Castilian history.
Birthplace of Fernando de Rojas, author of La Celestina. Its main square is a perfect example of Castilian architecture. Don't miss the Torre de San Miguel, standing tall and alone, and the Museo de la Celestina.
The main town in the area. It stands out for the Collegiate Church of the Blessed Sacrament, a gem of the transition from Gothic to Renaissance, and the Palace of Pedro I. A great spot for tapas, too.
A beautiful village on the banks of the river Alberche. It surprises visitors with the imposing Castle-Palace of Escalona, built in the 15th century, and an old quarter with a wonderfully medieval feel.
